Glyburide Gestational Diabetes

In Gestational diabetes, level of glucose in woman is increased during pregnancy. It is disappear after the birth of child. However it should be managed properly otherwise it will cause significant problems to mother as well as baby. It is recommended that proper diet and exercise are best to manage gestational diabetes. Sometimes, women have to take insulin through injection to control glucose level in blood.

Glyburide tablets are another option for women with gestational diabetes. As Glyburide is taken orally it is safer than insulin which needs to be injected. Glyburide is sulfonylurea drug which stimulates insulin secretion from pancreas. This results in more consumption of glucose and maintaining glucose level at normal.

Glyburide is more likely to fail in woman who diagnosed earlier, having age more than 30 and higher fasting glucose. So before prescribing Glyburide, one should consider above factor to avoid failure.
