Gestational Diabetes Glucose Test
Gestational Diabetes is form of diabetes develop in women during pregnancy. In this, glucose level in blood increases. Gestational Diabetes is temporary diabetes which disappears immediately after delivery.
Pregnant woman are screened for Gestational Diabetes during 24 to 28 week of pregnancy. Several tests like screening glucose test, glucose test and 3 hour glucose tolerance test are conducted.
Gestational Diabetes Glucose Test
Gestational Diabetes Glucose Test is of two types. One is fasting glucose test and other is random glucose test.
In fasting glucose test, you are asked not to eat or drink anything except water for 10-14 hrs before test. Your blood sample is taken to measure fasting glucose test readings. In random glucose test, blood sample is taken at any time during day to check glucose level in blood.
Depending on results one can find Gestational Diabetes in women. However some more tests are required to confirm it.
