Gestational Diabetes 3 Hour Test
Gestational Diabetes is found in women during their pregnancy. This is the temporary condition of diabetes due to high level of glucose in blood. Usually pregnant woman are tested during 24 to 28 week of pregnancy to check whether they have Gestational Diabetes or not.
Gestational Diabetes 3 Hour Test
In this test, you have to follow some instruction given by your doctor before test.
- Eat balanced diet (which contains 150 grams of carbohydrates) for 3 days before test.
- Before test, do not eat or drink anything except water for at least 10 to 14 hour.
When you come for test, first doctor will take blood sample to measure fasting glucose level in blood. Then you will ask to drink 100 grams of glucose. Then they will take another 3 blood samples after drinking glucose solution after 1 hour, 2 hour and 3 hour.

If two or more readings are higher than normal, then it is confirmed to have gestational diabetes.
If you have Gestational Diabetes then you should start treatment for controlling glucose level in blood as early as possible. Treatment contains eating balanced diet, regular exercise, taking insulin (if needed) and monitoring glucose level regularly (four times daily). It will help in keeping glucose level within normal range.
